Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible has named Alberta Premium Cask Strength as World Whisky of the Year.
The award-winning whisky is produced and distilled in Calgary by Alberta Distillers and is made with prairie rye mash bills and Rocky Mountain water which reflect Canadian craftsmanship.
The whisky competed with 1,252 other whiskies in this year’s contest, and judge Jim Murray described it as a true world-class whisky that is produced by possibly the world’s most underrated distillery.
While reacting to the feat achieved by the distillery, George Teichroeb, Alberta Distillers Ltd’s General Manager said: “We are incredibly proud of our Alberta Distillers team for creating such a unique and beautiful world-class whisky, and continually pushing the boundaries of what Canadian whisky can be.”
