A councillor in Calgary city running for re-election is battling charges related to fraud and breach of trust after an RCMP investigation.
According to Mounties, a “complex investigation” was carried out in respect of the expenses of incumbent Ward 2 Coun. Joe Magliocca after a city police probe discovered thousands in ineligible council expenditures.

Magliocca is battling one count each of breach of trust and fraud under $5,000.
He will appear in court before the municipal election.
The councillor was first elected in 2013 and he did not instantly return a request for comment.
