CAF reveals over 30,000 tickets have been sold ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations

The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has revealed that over 30,000 tickets have been sold during the online ticket sales phase for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), with tickets now available over the counter.

Local fans will be able to buy tickets in person for the tournament which will start on January 13 and end on February 11.

Online ticket sales were launched on November 9, while over-the-counter ticket sales will be available in 12 cities and towns across Cote d’Ivoire.

Ticket sales outlets are in Yamoussoukro, Bouaké, Korhogo, San Pedro, Grand Bassam, Cocody, Plateau, Bingerville, Songon, Anyama, Yopougon and Adjamé.

Prices are 5,000 FCFA (£7/€8/$8) for category three, 10,000 FCFA for category two, and 15,000 FCFA.

CAF tended towards online ticketing for the first time in a bid to encourage football fans to buy tickets in advance of the tournament.

AFCON was shifted from this summer to next month to avoid Cote d’Ivoire’s traditional rainy season in June and July.
