9 Nigerian artists were nominated for the African Act of the Year category of the 2022 MOBO Awards. Burna Boy, Adekunle Gold, Tems, Asake, Rema, Oxlade, Pheelz, Omah Lay, and Fireboy join South Africa’s Kabza De Small to make up the list of 10 artists nominated for the category.
Following the success of his record-breaking debut album, ‘Mr. Money With The Vibe’, Asake bagged his first MOBO nomination. Oxlade made the list after his international acclaim with the success of his single ‘Kulosa’.
Fireboy had a great international run with the success of ‘Peru’ while Burna Boy made wave in radio and streaming charts with his international smash hit ‘Last Last.’ Tems enjoyed international success by appearing on Future’s, Drake’s, and Beyonce’s albums.
Also, Burna Boy and Tems earned a nomination for Best International Act and they will be competing with Beyoncé, Chris Brown, Drake, Jack Harlow, Jazmine Sullivan, Kendrick Lamar, Skillibeng, and Summer Walker.
The award will take place on November 30 at the OVO Arena in London.
