Brazilian Doctors have started using the skin of tilapia fish to treat burn victims. The skin of Tilapia, the tropical fish, is a useful biological bandage for grafting, as it alleviates pain and acts as a collagen patch for wound healing.
The skin was used to treat Maria Ines Candido, a patient who suffered second-degree burns to her face, arms and neck after a gas canister exploded at her workplace.

Candido revealed that the treatment was effective and she was “100 percent better” as the fish skin made a big difference in her recovery.
Analysis of tilapia skin revealed that it had optimal levels of Type I collagen and high degrees of moisture, which means it takes a long time to dry.
Tilapia fish skin has been discovered to be useful in effective treatment for burn victims.
