The highest paid staff in the City of Brampton was paid over $288,000 last year despite the fact that he hasn’t worked for the city since 2018.
Recently, Brampton released the sunshine list naming every public sector employee in Ontario who earn at least $100,000.

Based on the list, former Brampton Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Harry Schlange, topped the salary pyramid for 2021 despite not working for the City of Brampton since 2018.
According to the report, Schlange received $288,366.60 last year with taxable benefits amounting to $17,821.61 as part of a severance agreement.
Schlange was the CAO of Brampton between January 2016 and December 2018 before he was replaced by an interim CAO Joe Pittari and later by David Barrick, both of which have also stopped working with the city.
Taxpayers in Brampton have reportedly paid Schlange over $1.8 million in salary and benefits, with over half of that amount being paid after he was replaced.

Barrick, who had his appointment as CAO terminated in February, came second on the list with a salary of $287,417.91 and taxable benefits of more than $20,500.
Other Brampton employees who were highly paid on the 2021 Ontario Sunshine list include Richard Forward, Commissioner of Brampton’s Planning Building and Economic Development with a salary of $236,619.07 and Bill Boyes, Brampton Fire Chief, with a salary of $230,014.67.
