After announcing the end of his marriage with wife, Melinda, Bloomberg has removed Bill Gates, one of the richest men in the world, from its billionaire list index.
Gates recently announced that he and Melinda who happens to be the co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, had ended their marriage of 27 years.
While announcing the end of their marriage, the duo tweeted: “After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage.
“Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable people to lead healthy lives.”
Immediately after the announcement was made, Bloomberg, an international media corporation that offers financial news and information, research, and financial data, removed Bill Gates from its top billionaires’ list where he normally occupied the top four spots.
A day before he was removed from the list, Gates was fourth on the index with a personal net worth of $145 billion, as he gained more than $13 billion in 2021 alone.
In 1987, Gates became the youngest ‘American Billionaire’ and has been on the Bloomberg’s list since then.
Also, he has been a permanent name on the Forbes billionaire index, as he often makes the real-time billionaire list.
Gates and Melinda married in 1994, after he had already established himself as the richest man in America.
As expected, the divorce will affect their wealth, but the extent to which their wealth will be affected is not known yet.
