BBNaija’s Phyna invited by police for questioning over alleged failure to return a rented wig

The Nigerian police have invited Big Brother Naija Level Up winner, Ijeoma Otabor popularly better known as Phyna, for questioning over her alleged failure to return a rented wig.

For some days, Phyna has been mercilessly dragged online after she was called out by a hair vendor for renting her wig and refusing to return it.

Now, the Level Up star has claimed that the hair vendor brought police to her house but she wasn’t around and as such, they dropped a letter.

While talking about the issue, she said her younger sister who was at home informed her of their visit and the letter they dropped in her absence, which requested her to visit a police station in Ogudu. Phyna, who hadn’t heard of the area before, stated that she would try to find out about the location.

She said: “Yesterday, my younger sister called me and said I’ve visitors in my house. I asked who they were and she said two pol!cemen, the hairstylist, and one woman. I asked who the woman was but she said she didn’t know the woman.

“And they dropped a letter. Because it’s from the police I want to know what to do. It reads, ‘This is the Nigeria Police. Invitation to the police.’ They now put my name and my address. Then it continued, ‘From the DPO Nigeria Police Ogudu.’ I don’t know where Ogudu is, but I will find out.”

According to reports, the wig vendor had accused Phyna of failure to return a rented wig. Screenshots which showed Phyna and her team rather attempting to negotiate a lower price with the vendor were shared.

While addressing the scandal, Phyna expressed weariness at being constantly criticized online, described the accuser as a “clout chaser” and called for people to do better.

In an Instagram live video, the reality star claimed the woman was blackmailing her, and that she doesn’t know the accuser. She suggested that her management team might have handled the transaction without informing her.

She also revealed she paid for the arrangement while abroad and upon her return attended the event with the wig without her management updating her.
