Four people have been abducted by bandits in the Kolo village of Gusau Local Government Area in Zamfara State and the bandits have refused to collect old naira notes as ransom.

According to reports, a ransom of N10m was earlier demanded by the bandits but after negotiation, they agreed to collect N5m. Residents of the community revealed that as the villagers were making effort to raise money through communal efforts, they received a message from the abductors that they would not free the kidnapped victims until the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) release the new naira notes.
A villager said: “As we were trying to gather the money demanded by the terrorists, they sent another message that they would not collect old naira notes.

“They said that they would keep the abducted persons in their camps until next month – December – when the new naira notes would be in circulation.”
