Appeal Court Frees IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu

The leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has been discharged and acquitted by Abuja Appeal Court.

This development was revealed by Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer.

It should be recalled that Barrister Ejiofor, recently said the Court of Appeal Abuja Judicial Division would give judgment on Thursday, October 13, 2022, in an appeal filed by Nnamdi Kanu to challenge criminal charges against him.

Nnamdi Kanu was re-arraigned on an amended 15-count charge that borders on treasonable felony slammed against him by the federal government. However, the judge struck out eight of the 15-count charge on April 8.

Kanu filed an appeal marked CA/ABJ/CR/625/2022, praying the court to quash the remaining seven counts for being devoid of merit through his team of lawyers led by Mike Ozekhome..

The appeal is praying the court order his release on bail, pending the determination of his appeal.

The court ruled that the “extraordinary rendition” of Kanu from Kenya is declared illegal and consequently constitutes a bar to further trial.

Ejiofor wrote on his Facebook page: “Appeal allowed, Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi KANU, discharged and acquitted. We have won! Victory victory victory victory.”
