The Progressive Governors’ Forum has resolved to step into the crises plunging the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo and Ondo states as the guber elections countdown begin in the states.

This development was disclosed by the Chairman of the forum, Atiku Bagudu in a statement in Abuja. The National Working Committee (NWC) of APC upheld the disqualification of Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki as well as two other contestants who were disqualified by the party’s screening committee from contesting the governorship primaries in Edo State on Saturday.

The other disqualified aspirants are Honourable Matthew Iduoriyekemwen and Engineer Chris Ogiemwonyi.

Obaseki and Ogiemwonyi were disqualified based on allegations of discrepancies in their certificates while Iduoriyekemwen was disqualified due to his dispute with top hierarchy of the party, as such, he has been expelled from APC.

Bagudu said: “The governors have collectively agreed to work to ensure the strengthening of internal party mechanism for the selection of party candidates in all elections, especially in respect of the Edo and Ondo States 2020 governorship election.

“The governors are confident that the party will resolve all current challenges and emerge stronger.

“The APC governors’ forum which had a teleconference meeting on Saturday unanimously reaffirmed its commitment to work for the unity of our party.”
