Amidst the recent letter trending on social media, stating out-of-control aggressive behaviour and “disorderly conduct” at Peel Region’s Tomken Road Middle School, another letter has been posted, stating that a culture of violence and discrimination occurs at another Mississauga school.
The latest letter was posted on Twitter by Michael Teper, a lawyer who says, “admin might find these letters embarrassing/inconvenient, but I challenge them to prove the statements are false.”
The letter has a list of incidents that occurred over the last three years at Homelands Senior Public School, located close to Dundas Street West and Erin Mills Parkway in Mississauga.
Part of the allegations presented racial slurs said by students, discriminatory language against the 2SLGBTQ+ students, acts of vandalism escalated throughout the school, physical and verbal fights and teachers being intimated with violence.
The letter exposes administrators for their lack of discipline, discourages teachers from filing incident reports which involve violence, and put blame on teachers for not being ‘engaging’ enough.”
It mentioned an instance where over 20 members of staff at the school were placed on mental health leave, due to working conditions over the last three years.
Though the letter identifies the improvements that were witnessed after a new principal assumed office, proving to be a “positive and impactful leader”, it added that change takes time.

The letter also notes that the former principal had been transferred to another Peel school and that staff there are “scared due to her reputation.”
Part of the letter read: “We cannot change the past, but it is imperative that we do not repeat the same mistakes by simply moving administration around and without demanding answers from the superintendent or the board at large.”
