Alphonso Davies: I don’t have heart problem

Canadian professional footballer and Bayern Munich FC defender, Alphonso Davies has come out to say that there is no problem with his heart as he prepares to make his Bayern Munich comeback next month after he recovered from COVID.

The 21-year-old player has been on the sidelines since December after he was diagnosed with myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart, and he tested positive for coronavirus in January.

In a statement released on Bayern’s website, Davies said: “I’m happy to be back. The rehab is going well so far. I have no problems with my muscles and heart, but I’m not at 100 percent – yet! I’m just happy that I can train again. I’m ready for work.”

The Head Coach of Bayern Munich, Julian Nagelsmann feels Davies will be available for their Champions League quarter-final second-leg at the Allianz Arena against Villarreal on April 12. The first leg will take place in Spain on April 5.

Davies added: “I’m giving it my all. I’m working closely with the medical department and the rehab staff. And I’m training very, very hard with and without the ball.”

The ambitious left-back says his goals are to “win both” the Bundesliga and the Champions League this season.

He however admits that the last four to eight weeks have been “very boring and tough mentally”. He says he has been “making a lot of music” in a studio, spending time with family, and visiting his girlfriend Jordyn Huitema, a Paris Saint-Germain player.
