The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has made it known that it has filed an appeal against the World Athletics’ Disciplinary Tribunal which overturned the provisional suspension imposed on Nigeria’s hurdler, Tobi Amusan, last month.
The AIU revealed that it filed the appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) on the eve of the expiration of the 30-day window for appeal.
Recall that the World Athletics Disciplinary Tribunal had lifted the ban on Amusan on August 17, claiming the athlete did not violate an anti-doping rule violation for Whereabouts Failures.
In its post, the AIU claimed it would not make further comment on the matter until the conclusion of the appeal.
Amusan, who recently won her third consecutive women’s 100m hurdles Diamond League title in Eugene, Oregon, will have to go through a fresh legal battle at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
