Peter Obi Defeats Tinubu in Lagos, by Stanley Ugagbe

Pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, has rejected the election that saw the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Nigeria’s President-elect and asserted that Peter Obi won the election fairly.

During a special general meeting that took place recently, the group confirmed that Peter Obi was the only aspirant with legitimate votes and should be declared the rightful winner.

Pa. Ayo Adebanjo and Chief Sola Ebiseni, who are leaders of the group have dissociated the group from any congratulatory message to Tinubu, reiterating their position that the next president of Nigeria should come from the Southeast based on equity and fairness.

Afenifere described the election as fraudulent, characterized by vote rigging, electoral violence, vandalization of voting materials, and deliberate voter disenfranchisement in some areas of the country.

According to the group, credible sources indicate that Peter Obi won the Presidential election and backed his move to the court to reclaim his mandate. The group urged Nigerians to come out en masse and participate fully in the forthcoming election.

Afenifere also declared their support for Gbadebo Vivour-Rhodes, the Lagos State Governorship candidate of the Labour Party, insisting that he is of Yoruba origin and his ancestors played a major role in the foundation of Lagos.
