Canfor Pulp, British Columbia’s forestry giant, has announced that they are permanently shutting down the pulp line at one of its Prince George mills. The closure will affect around 300 jobs.
The decision came after many forestry companies around the world are downsizing their operations over changes in the market.

While talking about the development, the CEO of Canfor said: “In recent years, several sawmills have permanently closed in the Prince George region due to deductions in the allowable annual cut and challenges accessing cost-competitive fibre.
“This has had a material impact on the availability of residual fibre for our pulp facilities and we need to right-size our operating platform.”
