The Mayor of Fort Erie, Wayne Redekop has revealed that around 4,300 customers are still experiencing blackout power in the town due to severe weather conditions.
The Mayor added that it is difficult to know when electricity will be fully restored.

Redekop said: “The challenges are that there are many trees that fell on wires. Some telephone poles were snapped, which means I’ve got to try to repair those. Transformers were damaged. So it’s a major job.”
While talking further, he said that crews from Sudbury have also come to assist Canadian Niagara Power in returning electricity to Fort Erie’s residents.
Recently, Canadian Niagara Power said that 20 two-person line crews and six two-person field crews are working relentlessly to restore power in Fort Erie.
Redekop said Fort Erie, Wainfleet and Port Colborne are all in a state of emergency, as crews continue to work on the power lines and digging out from the storm.
