The police authority in Saudi Arabia has apprehended thirty Nigerians for displaying the campaign poster of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the holy mosque, Kaaba.
It should be noted that Tinubu is one of the aspirants for the 2023 presidential election under the canopy of the ruling APC. He is set to slug it out with scores of others for the party’s ticket to contest the election in February, 2023.

Reports have it that the security operatives arrested the Nigerians while walking around the Kaaba with Tinubu’s posters lifted. It was gathered that the incident happened before the Eid-El-Fitr (Sallah) celebration.
An eyewitness identified as Murtala Adamu Jega who spoke with SaharaReporters said, “I’m a witness; I saw them lift Bola Tinubu’s posters at the holy Kaaba.
“This is despicable. Instead of them devout precious time to pray for peace to return to our country, 30 men made a mockery of our nation by lifting a politician’s posters in the holy place. Thank God, Saudi authorities were swift to have arrested them right there and then.”
Also, a certain Zainab Abdullahi, a Nigerian, who was at the mosque, said, “the scenario was a very bad representation of Nigeria’s image before the world, and I think politicians must desist from this bad behaviour.”

SaharaReporters quoted a Saudi Arabian source to have said those arrested would be charged to court to serve their sentences.
The online paper also reported that a renowned Islamic Cleric in Nigeria, Sheik Nura Khalid, while harping on the development, commended the Saudi authorities for the arrest, saying, “Lifting up a politician’s posters in the holy Kaaba has contravened Islamic traditions.”
