In the final weeks of the year, 14 additional vehicles, stolen from Canada and shipped to Kuwait, were seized by Customs in Malta.
These 14 vehicles were seen hidden inside eight 40-foot containers. Customs officials at the Freeport intercepted the following through their scanning equipment: nine Ford F150 trucks; two Lexus RX 35; one Lexus 1S30; one Dodge Dura; and one Jeep Wrangler.
To date, 32 containers with 58 stolen vehicles from Canada were seized by Customs during operations. The Malta Police Force and the Canadian Authorities have been notified about the interception and an investigation has been launched.
The efforts of Malta Customs’ has helped Canadian Police file charges against 9 people in connection to violent car-jackings.
