The City of Edmonton offers a new funding opportunity to support community organizations in the advancement of community safety and well-being (CSWB). Community organizations can apply for up to $100,000 in one-time grant funding for work to make Edmonton safer and more inclusive. Applications for funding are open until September 12, 2022.
The goal of this program is to provide funding to initiatives and projects that work to improve equity, end poverty, eliminate racism, make progress toward truth and reconciliation, or create an inclusive and compassionate community that supports the safety and well-being of all who live in Edmonton.
Up to $1.5 million is available, and funding will go toward initiatives that address emergent community needs or opportunities, can be completed within the next 24 months, and align with the CSWB Strategy outcomes, including reconciliation, safe and inclusive spaces, anti-racism, and crime prevention.
In May of this year, Council approved the Community Safety and Well-Being Strategy, the City’s roadmap for inclusive, connected and coordinated safety and well-being planning that is aligned to the values in The City Plan. One of the approved immediate actions within the strategy is the launch of this grant program.
The deadline for applications is Monday, September 12.
