Born and raised in East Kingston Jamaica and migrated to Canada at the age of 19 years of age, Sharna Knowles is the author who has penned the powerful devotional book, “30 Days in the Word.” It is a daily devotional with 30 affirmations filled with wisdom and insights to uplift and nourish the soul. Additionally, she co-authored the International Bestseller “Leaders with Impact,” where she wrote about the “Life of Victory.”
But that’s not all—she also brings the transformative experience directly to you through conferences, camps, encounters, and workshops tailored specifically for youths and women. With her engaging speaking style and interactive sessions, she creates a safe and empowering space for personal growth and empowerment.

In this interview, she shared insight on what inspired her to write 30 Days in the Word. She also shed light on what the readers stand to gain from devouring the book.
NCNC: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what inspired you to write “30 Days in the Word”?
Knowles: This book was inspired by the Holy Spirit himself.
NCNC: What is the main message or theme you want readers to take away from your book?
Knowles The main message of “30 Days in the Word Daily Devotional” is to encourage readers to engage with the Scriptures on a daily basis, fostering a deeper understanding of God’s word and cultivating a meaningful spiritual practice. Through this devotional, readers are guided to reflect, meditate, and apply biblical teachings to their lives, ultimately nurturing their faith and relationship with God.
NCNC: How did you come up with the idea of a 30-day journey? What do you hope readers will gain from this approach?
Knowles: The inspiration of a 30-day journey in the “30 Days in the Word Daily Devotional” 30 days is a manageable timeframe for individuals to commit to a consistent practice. It’s long enough to create a habit and experience transformation, but not so long that it feels overwhelming.
The approach aims to provide readers with a structured and gradual immersion into daily scripture readings and reflections. Over the course of 30 days, readers can expect to develop a more profound connection to the Bible and its teachings. This concentrated focus on the Word enables them to gain insights, perspective, and spiritual growth that can be carried forward beyond the 30-day period. Ultimately, the goal is for readers to cultivate a lasting habit of engaging with the Bible regularly, deepening their faith and enriching their spiritual lives
NCNC: What makes your book unique or different from other similar books in the market?
Knowles: Unique Content: The book offers a distinctive selection of scripture passages and themes, providing readers with fresh insights and perspectives on familiar verses.
Engaging Reflections: The devotional present daily reflections that are relatable, contemporary, and applicable to readers’ everyday lives, fostering a deeper connection between the ancient scriptures and modern experiences.
Practical Application: This devotional emphasizes practical ways to apply biblical teachings in real-life situations, encouraging readers to translate spiritual insights into actionable steps.
NCNC: Did you encounter any challenges while writing this book, and how did you overcome them?
Knowles: A few challenges along the way that affected the deadline a bit. I’ve experienced days when I blanked out/ writer’s block and had to wait. Overcoming that is taking myself away from writing for a few days and enjoy nature and listening to music.
NCNC: How did you decide on the content for each day in the book? Is there a specific structure or progression you followed?
Knowles: Honestly I was guided by the Holy Spirit himself and walking in wisdom starting with the Alpha and Omega as Day 1 and ending with The Great Commission as Day 30.
NCNC: Can you share a memorable moment or personal experience related to the writing process or the book’s content?
Knowles: Day 16 Refusing to quit. I had to discipline, encourage myself while refusing to quit.
As I was instructed by the Holy Spirit to write this book and he will use it to take me out of Nazareth. At one point I honestly was questioning myself and saying that I’m not capable. I refused to quit and stand on Matthew 19:26, that states: With men it is impossible, But with God ALL things are possible.
NCNC: Who is the target audience for “30 Days in the Word,” and what do you believe they will find most valuable in your book?
Knowles: For all ages and levels. Simple yet deep, quick and easy to read with daily scriptures and reflections to meditate on daily.
NCNC: How do you envision readers using your book? Is it designed for daily readings, group discussions, or personal reflection?
Knowles: A valuable resource for evangelizing, discipleship classes, conferences, family studies and high school religion reference guide.
NCNC: Are there any additional resources or tools you recommend for readers who want to delve deeper into the topics covered in your book?
Knowles: In the Devotional, I recommended the Purpose Driven by Rick Warren. The bible.
