United Nations (UN) has reacted after the Interior Ministry in Libya revealed how three Libyan men entered a factory in Tripoli, doused a Nigerian worker in petrol, and set him ablaze.
A recent statement by Tripoli’s interior Ministry revealed the 3 suspects had been remanded for the attack on the Nigerian man on October 6.
The ministry said witnesses described the men who stormed the factory and set the Nigerian on fire.
The attack which is one of many attacks carried out by Libyans on migrants in the country has been described by the United Nations as “another senseless crime against migrants in the country.”
While speaking against the attack, UN’s Head of International Organization of Migration mission in Libya, Federico Soda tweeted: “We are horrified by the killing of a Nigerian migrant worker in Tripoli, Libya by three men yesterday. The young man was burned alive, in yet again another senseless crime against migrants in the country,” tweeted Federico Soda, head of the UN’s International Organization of Migration mission in Libya.
“Those responsible must be held to account.”
