Pearson International Airport has announced limit would be placed on the number of people that are permitted to enter the terminal.
Although Canada’s biggest airport has been practically dead since the advent of COVID-19 pandemic, the Greater Toronto Airport Authority (GTAA) has stated that according to the new rule, “meeters and greeters”, that is, people that accompany passengers at the airport, will no longer be allowed in the airport.
The new rule however does not apply to people accompanying minors and people with disabilities but it applies to members of staff of Pearson.
The GTAA’s directive said: “Airport workers who need to meet with family members or other acquaintances for any reason before, during or after their workday, must do so outside the terminal buildings. Family members or acquaintances are not permitted inside the terminals for any reason until further notice from the GTAA.”
Face covering has been mandated for every passenger and employee of the airport, at all times. Before it was mandated, face covering only applied to people flying to Canadian airports.
The directive mandates people to put on masks at security screening, parking lots, sidewalks outside the terminal and all other public areas but face coverings can be removed for the purpose of identification by order of staff.
