Motorists travelling on Highway 407 between Burlington and Pickering in Ontario will face increased toll charges next year, marking the end of a four-year rate freeze. The entity overseeing tolls on the highway, Highway 407 ETR, reveals that drivers of light vehicles, encompassing typical passenger cars and light-duty trucks, can anticipate toll hikes ranging from one to 11 cents per kilometre. The increase depends on factors such as the time of day and the traversed zone.
Highway 407 ETR emphasizes that while toll rates are routinely adjusted on an annual basis, they have remained unchanged since February 2020 due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the impending increase, the company assures personal customers will experience a monthly bill uptick of less than five dollars.
The revised toll rates are slated to take effect on February 1. Highway 407 ETR, an electronic open-access toll highway spanning 108 kilometres in the Greater Toronto Area, is known for its comprehensive network and has been a key transportation route in the region.
