The founder of Rebel News, Ezra Levant, has talked after the administration of Justin Trudeau outrightly denied his outlet what he labelled a newly-conceived “license” to fully practice journalism.
While talking during “Tucker Carlson Tonight”, Levant said if the behavior of the Liberal Party leader during the Ottawa trucker protests is anything to go by, he is making effort to punish critics and upturn their lives.

He talked about how Justin Trudeau previously condemned his agency when a reporter of the agency asked one question during a press availability when he was seeking reelection in 2021.
At that time, Trudeau claimed that the media outfit was engaging in “disinformation on the science around vaccines” and made a point to declare he could not bring himself to describe them as a “media organization.”
“It’s not yet illegal to do journalism without that license, it’s a government license called the Qualified Canadian Journalism Organization License. A government panel reviews you. They spent one year reviewing Rebel News, looking through more than 100 of our stories,” Levant told the talk show host, Tucker Carlson.

Levant added: “A panel of five people in secret: We don’t even know what they said or did or what they looked at. And they claim that only one percent of our stories are news, so we don’t get the license.”
He went on to describe how Trudeau sees his outlet and how he sees mainstream outlets.
He said Trudeau plans to force Big Tech to down-rank non-licensed journalists and amend the Income Tax Act to punish them.
He concluded: “We’re not banned yet, although we are banned from government events, as you said earlier. But I’m worried that he’s done all this in two years. The worst is yet to come. He may well ban us yet.”

He later revealed that his organization will sue the Trudeau government in federal court over the license denial.
