Moses Armstrong, a popular Nollywood actor, has been accused of rape, coercion, conspiracy, and providing contraceptives or other tools to induce abortion.
Moses was detained on June 16 on suspicion of raping a teenage girl who had been living with his family and had been adopted by him.
On Wednesday, August 10, the four accusations were read to the troubled actor in a State High Court in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.
He was given bail, notwithstanding his not guilty plea to the accusations.

Emmanuel Pantaleon, the defense attorney, called the court’s attention to the bail application that had been submitted on his client’s behalf on July 25 and asked for permission to proceed with the hearing.
I.U. Robert, an assistant state attorney for the prosecution, opposed the bail application, citing pertinent judicial authorities, and urged the court to reject it as an “abuse of court procedure.”
After hearing arguments from both attorneys, the judge, Ntong Ntong, upheld the defense attorney’s request and granted Mr. Armstrong bail in the amount of N5 million.
