Canada’s quest to contain the Omicron variant has continued on many fronts as three provinces reintroduced public health restrictions and another province expanded eligibility for COVID-19 vaccine boosters.
Quebec and British Columbia have capped capacity at bars and restaurants at 50 percent while Newfoundland and Labrador have restricted bars to 50 percent and restaurants to 75 percent with physical distancing.
Also, B.C. has restricted indoor social gatherings to a maximum of 10 people.
Meanwhile, Ontario has expanded COVID-19 vaccine booster eligibility to every adult, provided it’s been a minimum of three months since he got his second dose.
Ontario also introduced similar public health restrictions with capacity limits and reduced hours at bars and restaurants.
Canada reported thousands of new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend as the Omicron variant continued its rapid spread.
