The Public Health Agency of Canada has said that its investigation into the outbreak of salmonella in Western Canada has revealed that no fewer than 84 people have fallen ill this fall from the bacteria.

Information posted on the agency’s website reveals that the outbreak is connected to Alasko brand frozen whole kernel corn.
According to reports, people have been falling sick in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario.
The agency reveals that the illnesses reported in Ontario were connected to travel to Alberta and British Columbia.
As such, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued food recall warnings for Alasko brand frozen whole kernel corn and for Fraser Valley Meats brand frozen whole kernel corn.
The health agency says people should desist from eating, using, selling, or serving any of these recalled products.
The statement on the agency’s website read: “The outbreak appears to be ongoing, as recent illnesses continue to be reported.
“Do not eat, use, sell, or serve recalled Alasko brand or Fraser Valley Meats brand frozen whole kernel corn. This advice applies to individuals, as well as retailers, distributors, manufacturers, and food service establishments such as hotels, restaurants, cafeterias, hospitals and long-term care homes, across Canada.”
The agency says no fewer than four people have been hospitalized and no deaths have so far been reported.
