Kilcoo Camp, renowned in its own right, and its former director find themselves entangled in legal proceedings. Two separate lawsuits have been filed, both asserting claims of sexual assault. The plaintiffs, opting to remain anonymous, alleged that these incidents occurred during their attendance at the camp between the 1990s and 2000s. The lawsuits specifically point to David Latimer, who served as the camp’s director for a substantial period starting in 1985. The allegations detail instances of sexual assault involving a young camper from the 1990s and a former staff member in 2009.
The accusations centers around allegations of “grooming and manipulating,” shedding light on the reasons behind these distressing claims.

“The allegations suggesting that I harmed anyone associated with the camp or anywhere else are simply not true. I would never do anything to hurt any young person,” Latimer stated through his legal representative.
According to Kilcoo, The leadership wrote in an email to the Star that, while both lawsuits name the camp as a defendant, “the allegations only involve the actions of the former director. They are extremely troubling.”
