Parking charges have been waived in some areas of south Mississauga between November 30, 2022 and January 15, 2023.
Officials said the aim is to support shops, restaurants and other businesses as they continue to recover from the devastating financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Clarkson and Port Credit BIAs have once again asked Mississauga to waive the charges in a bid to offer area businesses a better chance of competing with shopping malls located in places where customer parking is free.

The parking fee holiday only applies to those areas. City officials disclosed that paid parking remains in Streetsville and the downtown core.
A report to the general committee from Mississauga’s commissioner of transportation and works, Geoff Wright, read: “The Christmas shopping season is important to the success of the Port Credit and Clarkson Business Improvement Areas, especially this year.
“The retail members of these BIAs must compete with shopping malls and plazas that do not charge for parking.”
Though city staff estimated a loss of revenue in the region of $30,500, councillors have said that the financial hit is worth it as long as the program helps businesses.
