Ontario Premier, Doug Ford will make an announcement following provincial health officials’ suggestion that the Stay-at-Home order in Ontario should beextended.
The current Ontario-wide Stay-at-Home order will expire on May 19 but the number of COVID-19 cases have not dropped to the point where restrictions could be eased.
Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. David Williams, said that COVID-19’s daily case counts need to be “well below” 1000 before restrictions could be eased.
He said: “If we’re coming down, we’re staying down. We do not want a fourth wave.
“We want to make sure we can open up in the right way. Slow, and steady, and stay open.”
In the same vein, Health Minister Christine Elliott informed journalists at Queen’s Park recently that the Ontario has been advised to carry on with the Stay-at-Home order.
