Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been released by the Department of State Services (DSS) to run an independent medical test.
This development was revealed by Kanu’s lead counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, who said his client underwent a medical examination in an Abuja hospital on Friday.
Ejiofor said: “We are pleased to inform you that Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu met with his choice personal physician yesterday (Friday) in a hospital in Abuja, outside the facility of the State Security Service (SSS).

“As part of the protocol, I witnessed the consultation. The medical examination was seamless and productive, and he (Kanu) will be progressing to the next stage soon.”
Kanu was incarcerated by the DSS since June 2021, when he was nabbed and repatriated from Kenya.
While in custody, Kanu asked repeatedly for an independent medical examination of his deteriorating health condition.
