According to reports, Cyclone Freddy hit Mozambique again within two weeks, causing devastation by ripping off roofs of buildings, which resulted in one death and enforcing a lockdown in the port town. The previous occurrence of the cyclone claimed the lives of 27 people in the region.
Satellite data reveals that the cyclone started surging onshore at 10 p.m. local time (20:00 GMT) on Saturday after it rained for several hours. According to World Meteorological Organization, the weather system will set a new record for the longest-lasting tropical cyclone, having swirled for 34 days and surpassed the previous record held by a 31-day hurricane in 1994.

Reports have it a person died when their house collapsed, and the power utility company shut off electricity as a precautionary measure. Also, all flights were cancelled due to the storm’s impact.
