Mikaël Kingsbury, a moguls sensation, once again secured a spot on the World Cup podium, highlighting Canada’s success in Bakuriani, Georgia.
Kingsbury clinched the gold in the men’s dual moguls final, adding another victory to his illustrious career. However, he wasn’t the sole Canadian athlete making waves, as teammate Maïa Schwinghammer secured silver in the women’s final, marking her first World Cup medal.
The 31-year-old Kingsbury, hailing from Deux-Montagnes, Que., demonstrated his consistent excellence by claiming a bronze medal in Bakuriani on Friday. This latest win brings his tally to seven medals (four gold, three bronze) in as many World Cup events this season.
Ikuma Horshima of Japan secured the men’s silver, with American Nick Page taking home the bronze. In the women’s final, Schwinghammer, from Saskatoon, trailed behind Australia’s Jakara Anthony, who also secured gold on Friday, while Jaelin Kauf of the United States claimed the bronze.
Looking ahead, the World Cup moguls circuit is set to continue in Val Saint-Come, Que., starting on Friday, Jan. 19.
