A New York appellate court has ruled that Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Guiliani can no longer practice in New York.
Giuliani’s law license was suspended by the court after a panel concluded he made ‘demonstrably false’ statements in respect of the 2020 election that Donald Trump lost to Joe Biden.
The 33-page decision read: “[W]e conclude that there is uncontroverted evidence that respondent communicated demonstrably false and misleading statements to courts, lawmakers and the public at large in his capacity as lawyer for former President Donald J. Trump and the Trump campaign in connection with Trump’s failed effort at reelection in 2020.”

It claimed that Giulani threatened ‘public interest’ in his power as the personal attorney of Trump and insisted his actions ‘warrant interim suspension from the practice of law.’
Giuliani led Trump’s legal challenge to the 2020 presidential election results and argued the vote was marred with fraud while claiming voting machines had been rigged to favor Joe Biden.
In 1969, Giuliani was admitted to the state bar in New York and had a great legal career which include working in Ronald Reagan’s Justice Department before he joined Trump’s team.
In 1983, he was named U.S. Attorney in Manhattan where he worked till 1989 before he became Mayor of New York City.

The New York Bar Association announced on January 11, 2021 that it was commencing an investigation into whether the membership of Giuliani should be revoked and noted his comments on January 6 to Trump supporters before they stormed the Capitol.
Also, the association said it had ‘received hundreds of complaints in recent months about Mr. Giuliani and his baseless efforts on behalf of President Trump to cast doubt on the authenticity of the 2020 presidential election and, after the votes were cast, to overturn its legitimate results.’
He is also being investigated for his foreign dealings with Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the removal from the Bar Association membership does not prevent him from practicing law in New York.
