A 29-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman have been arrested by Toronto Police in a sex trafficking investigation that involved an alleged introduction through Snapchat.
Police disclosed that a female victim met a man on Snapchat who went by the username ‘driptastic’ in April. The girl later entered into what she thought was a romantic relationship with the man.
During a short period of time, the girl was allegedly forced by the man and another woman to work as sex trader against her will. Police disclosed that every money she made was kept from her, and her personal belongings.
Police recently charged Joshua Oliver and Marianna Benkartoussa, both in Toronto, with procuring/exercising control, advertising another person’s sexual services, trafficking in persons, material benefit from sexual services and financial material benefit from trafficking person over 18.
Oliver faces an extra charge of theft of under $5,000.
