Police has revealed that a 28-year-old man died while three others suffered severe injuries in a recent shooting in Toronto’s west end. Police also said they have commenced a lengthy and complex investigation.

Toronto police said suspects fired shots from their car at two parked vehicles, striking four people just before 2:30 p.m.

While talking further about the shooting, Inspector Mike Williams said: “From the sounds of things, it was very confusing, even for anybody who would have seen what took place.

“There was vehicles and people running in different directions. It was quite chaotic.”

He said two of the victims attempted to run away from the gunfire but collapsed on getting to a nearby street.

Initially, police reported there were five victims, but later reported that the victims were only four.

Inspector Williams said one of the victims who survived the incident is in life-threatening situation, while two others sustained injuries that are severe but not life-threatening.

As the wounded are going through recovery stage in the hospital, Williams said police were working on the scene.

He said one of the vehicles that were shot at has bullet holes, with one officer estimating that as many as a hundred rounds were fired.

He said police would be present in the area for a minimum of 24 hours to collect evidence and process the scene.

He said the shooting “doesn’t appear to be random,” but officers are not ruling anything out.

He said police do not have a description of the suspect(s) but they’re asking anybody that has useful information to come forward.
