The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, has told citizens not to worry as concerns on the COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Canada increases.
According to Xinhua news agency’s report, while talking during a recent press conference, Trudeau said: “When the vaccines are going to come? That’s why there’s a lot of anxiety and there’s a lot of noise going on right now. I want to reassure Canadians: we are on track.
“I speak almost every week with CEOs of these vaccine companies, and they have assured me that they will meet their obligations.
“I want to reassure Canadians that we’re on track.”
He added that about 20 million more doses would start arriving in the spring as his administration has set its sight on vaccinating every individual that want a shot by the end of September.
Trudeau urged Canadians to stop worrying about Canada’s vaccine efforts. He said the temporary “ups and downs” may frustrate some people, but they are just that temporary.
When asked if any legal recourse can be pursued by Canada if the companies don’t meet their contractual obligations, the Prime Minister did not respond, instead, he said he recently spoke with the CEO of AstraZeneca who told him vaccines would follow immediately after Health Canada’s green light.
