The Nigerian army has admitted taking live bullets to Lekki tollgate where peaceful protesters were shot at on October 20, 2020.
The Commander of the 81 division of the Nigerian Army, Ibrahim Taiwo confirmed while he was being cross examined by Olumide Fusika, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) before the Lagos judicial panel recently.
Taiwo said the live bullets was to protect the army team that was sent to restore order in the area and revealed that the soldiers who shot at the scene used blank bullets.
He also revealed that their colleagues with live bullets were on ground to protect the military men from suspected hoodlums who caused trouble.
