Vietnamese police have confiscated 345,000 used condoms which had been cleaned and repackaged as new.
Recent footage broadcast by state-owned Vietnam Television (VTV) revealed dozens of large bags that contained used condoms being scattered across the floor of a warehouse located in southern province of Binh Duong.
VTV reports that the bags weighed above 360 kilograms (794 lbs), which equals 345,000 condoms.
State newspaper, Tuoi Tre reported that the owner of the warehouse said the warehouse had received a “monthly input of used condoms from an unknown person.”
A woman that was detained during the raid told police that the used condoms were first boiled in water. After boiling, they were dried and reshaped on a wooden phallus before they were repackaged and resold.
VTV disclosed that the number of the recycled condoms had already been sold has not been determined. However, the detained woman said she had got $0.17 for each kilogramme of recycled condoms she packaged.
