According to documents from the Superintendent of Bankruptcy Canada’s office, the owners of Vancouver’s Trump International Hotel has filed for bankruptcy.
The member of staff who answered the hotel phone recently said the hotel has shut down permanently.
Hospitality outfit, TA Hotel Management Partnership Ltd. filed for bankruptcy recentlt. TA Hotel Management Partnership Ltd is a subsidiary of TA Global Berhad.
The website of TA Global Berhad reveals it located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and is into property development and investment with luxurious highrises in major locations of the world.
TA Global Berhad’s CEO, Tiah Joo Kim has been running the company’s affairs since 2016. He launched Trump hotel in Vancouver in 2017.
A meeting of creditors is slated for September 16, 2020.
Kim, who also doubles as the CEO of Vancouver-based Holborn Group ignored requests for comment. Bankruptcy files list the Partnership liabilities of TA Hotel Management at $4.8 million and list its assets at $1 million.
Recently, two front desk staff that answered the phone said the hotel was empty and staff had gone.
However, calls to make bookings were declined by staff who disclosed the hotel was not accepting bookings. The luxury hotel’s online booking portal showed that no rooms would be available beyond Aug 27, 2020.
Several calls made to gather more information from Holborn Group and the hotel Manager, who resides in Hawaii were not returned.
