Canadian star striker, Jonathan David has joined French club, Lille from Gent in a $35 million (30 million Euros) transfer.
The 20-year-old Canadian scored 37 goals in all competitions in his last two seasons in Gent. Out of the 37 goals, 23 were scored last season.
David will wear the No. 9 shirt for Lille and will feature in next season’s UEFA Europa League as Lille finished fourth last season.
David was the highest goal scorer in last year’s CONCACAF Gold Cup that featured the likes of America’s Christian Pulisic and Mexico’s Raul Jimenez. Sincr making his debut at 18 years, he has scored 11 goals in 12 matches for Canada.
He will replace Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, who recently became Napoli’s club-record signing after completing $82 million transfer.
