Nigerian students who are currently on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) scholarship program staged a protest in front of the Nigerian High Commission in the United Kingdom, over the commission’s failure to pay their tuition fees.
The students were awarded scholarships by the NDDC to study abroad and according to the students, the commission has not paid their tuition fees and allowance as promised.
The students revealed they had to start doing menial jobs to cater for themselves since they were abandoned in the UK by the commission. They also said they could be deported if they stay in the UK without resuming school at the appropriate time.
At present, the NDDC is currently engulfed in a financial scandal after the National Assembly commenced an investigation on alleged misappropriation of fund in the commission.
