A dog embarked on a miraculous 57-mile trip to her old home years after her family moved out of the house. Cleo, a four-year-old Labrador was missing her old porch apparently when she disappeared recently in Olath, Missouri.
Colton Michael, the present occupant of the house said his wife Britney first saw Cleo on their porch nearly 60 miles away in Lawson, Missouri, but they didn’t know the owner of the dog. While talking to KMBC, Michael said: “She got out of her car and said, “Where did the dog come from?”
The couple said they saw Cleo on the porch and she seemed nervous when she saw them.
“She wound’t let us quite come near her,” Michael said, though he later discovered that their porch used to be one of Cleo’s favorite relaxation spots more than two years ago.
According to Micheal, they moved into the apartment in November 2018.
Cleo was taken to a veterinary doctor and from there, the couple discovered that she had a microchip on her. After checking the microchip, they discovered that Cleo belonged to the family that formerly occupied their home.
Meanwhile, Cleo’s owner, Drew, posted about their missing dog. When the Colton’s rang the dog’s family, they were highly surprised. Drew said: “It’s the most bizarre story. Really, she’s everything to us and my mother…It just feels good to be reunited with her.”
No one knows exactly how Cleo embarked on the long journey which would have required her to journey through a river at a point.
After Cleo reunited with her owners, Michael said: “Its’ a mystery, something we will probably never know. Now that we know who she belongs to, if she pops up again, we know who to call.”
