As fears of an increase in cases of COVID-19 rises, a lot of Canadians are unwillingly wearing masks to curb the spread of the virus.
This is according to a recently conducted Angus Reid poll which discovered that only 55 percent of Canadians wear masks regularly when they leave home. The remaining 45 percent either wear masks occasionally or don’t wear at all.
Apart from Alberta and Saskatchewan, every province registered above 70 percent support for mandatory masking laws. Alberta registered 60% while Saskatchewan registered 55% support for the measure.
About 25 percent of total respondents said they are not wearing a mask because they forgot to bring one while 74 percent said they are not wearing masks due to discomfort, lack of concern about catching COVID-19, a perceived ineffectiveness of masks or simply imitating others who don’t wear them.
