A Canadian police killed a 73-year-old man after he refused to wear a face mask in a grocery store in Minden, 200 kilometers north of Toronto.
According to Ontario police, the man allegedly assaulted an employee of the grocery store after he was asked to obey the laws that guide wearing face coverings to halt the spread of the coronavirus.
Another employee of the store said the man refused to wear a mask and fled after assaulting the employee.
The cops were called but they decided not stop the suspect’s car “in the interest of public safely.” Instead, the police traced his house with his license plate.
Two policemen were involved in the shooting.
Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit’s statement reveals that the man died shortly after he was taken to a hospital.
The Special Investigations Unit said: “From the scene, a semi-automatic rifle and a pistol were collected,” plus the weapons of two policemen.
