For the first time in the history of the Bank, the board of directors of First National Bank of Lesotho has announced the appointment of a female Chief Executive of FNB Lesotho.

The appointment of Mrs. Delekazi Mokebe as Chief Executive of FNB Lesotho took effect from 08 June 2020.

According to a statement made available to newsmen, FNB Lesotho’s marketing manager Lebo Setlalekgosi said Mokebe becomes the first woman to lead a commercial bank in Lesotho.

The history maker, Mokebe replaced former CEO, the South African Bradwin Roper.

In his eupeptic remarks, FNB Lesotho’s board chairperson, Ian Leyenar, described Ms Mokebe’s appointment as a milestone.

Leyenar said “This is a milestone decision which affirms our commitment to growing our own timber with respect to talent”.

“We have great confidence in the depth of talent and management experience in our business, which allowed the board to appoint from within the executive team,” he added.

The Nigerian Canadian News gathered that Mokebe is a seasoned banker with 16 years’ experience in the industry.

According to reports, she joined FNB three years ago as treasurer and with the mandate of setting up the treasury functions of the bank.

She holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) degree from the University of Witwatersrand University and a Master’s in Business Leadership from the University of South Africa (UNISA).

Analysts are of the view that her deep insights in the banking sectors coupled with a wealth of experience in leadership position her well for the new role.
