An unconfirmed number of police officers and passers-by were shot at when suspected armed robbers stormed First Bank of Nigeria Limited’s Isanlu branch in Kogi State on Thursday.
According to information gathered, the robbers were about seven and they came with two vehicles. They broke into the bank and shot many people dead.
While confirming the attack, Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, William Ayah, said there were casualties but their number has not been ascertained.
He said the state’s Commissioner of Police, Ede Ayuba, had informed his deputy, Akeem Yusuf, to get in touch with the Divisional Police Officer in Isanlu in an bid to get the details of the incident and give him feedback within 24 hours.
It was also learnt that the robbers were angry that they could not enter the banking hall and their anger was vented on passers-by and security officers of the bank by shooting them.
