Odion Ighalo is still in the dark as to what club he will play for next season. Though his Manchester United loan deal will expire on May 31, he wants to see out his career at the club.
Manchester United want to extend Ighalo’s loan deal so he can play till the end of the season but Ighalo’s parent club, Shanghai Shenhua want him back on time for the start of next season. Ighalo wants a permanent deal with Manchester United but it’s like United are not interested in making the deal permanent.
In spite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Ighalo’s trainer reveals he has stretched himself to his limits in a bid to ensure he remains in the best physical condition to return to the Premier League. While talking to Goal, Ighalo’s trainer, Ekemini Ekerette said: “He’s a wonderful athlete, I’ve never seen someone more passionate about their job than him. I think he’s in excellent physical condition. He loves the game. He just wants to train. Even if the league wasn’t going to be played in the next three months he would keep training every day. He is so disciplined.
“His future was not making a difference to his intensity in training. He is just always focused on making sure he’s doing what he needs to do and then pushing himself even further.
“He’s a team player and has been talking about [Marcus] Rashford, [Anthony] Martial, [Mason] Greenwood, and how fantastic they all are, so he’s looking forward to hopefully getting to play with Rashford. He wants to stay and loves United, Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] and the fans and he would love to be a Red for the rest of his life.”
Ighalo has so far scored four goals in three starts since he joined United on loan and his qualities have been greatly admired by his team mates and United’s Head Coach, Olé Gunnar Solskjaer.
