Professor Ibrahim Agboola Gambari has been announced as the new Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Boss Mustapha.
The announcement was made by the SGF on Wednesday during the virtual meeting of Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
Present at the FEC meeting were the Ministers of Transportation; Power; Finance, Budget and National Planning; Information and Culture; Solid Minerals; Agriculture; Commerce and National Security Adviser (NSA), Babagana Mungonu.
Professor Gambari was welcomed into State House premises by some Senior Presidency officials led by the new State House Permanent Secretary, Mallam Tijani Umar before he was announced as Chief of Staff at the commencement of the meeting.
He was also received and ushered into Aso Chambers by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs, Office of the Vice President, Amb. Abdullahi Gwari; the Director of Protocol, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garuba Shehu.
Professor Gambari will be replacing the late former Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, who passed on after battling with the Novel Coronavirus disease.
Gambari, an indigene of Kwara State had occupied various offices like office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs when President Buhari was Head of State.
He also served as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) and he is the founder of Savannah Center External link in Abuja.
